The Schools' Garden Competition, run under the patronage of Professor David Bellamy, is an ever popular feature at the Southport Show, and this year, the 3 winners have incorporated the Fine Art theme into their designs.
Drawn up by Year 5 or Year 6 pupils from schools throughout the north-west of England, these gardens have been inspired by a famous floarl or garden painting of the pupils' choice. |

After selecting the winning entries, the judges pass on the plans to a qualified landscaper, who constructs the three gardens on 6m x 6m plots on the show site, alongside the gardens designed by experienced and professional contractors.
The schools are awarded a prize of £500 to spend on art materials or computer software, while the individual designers win £50 of vouchers plus a book to keep for themselves. |
