| Garden Layout - Plants - Stone Sink
|
|
| This Belfast stone sink was 'acquired' during the installation of a patio for a client some years back. He had no use of it, and offered to pay me to take it away! Needless to say, it was carefully transferred into one of the vans and brought here to my garden, all at no cost to the client. :~) This was in the days before the pond had been installed, and so, on Mrs Taz's instruction, the plug hole was sealed with a waterproof adhesive and a circle of plastic cut from an ice-cream carton, filled with water and made into a home for her ever-expanding collection of fairground goldfish. She introduced a lot of ozygenating plants, such as Elodea and the highly-invasive Parrot's Feathers, and some sort of stable eco-system evolved over the next few months. The fish thrived, the cats left them alone, and the Parrot's Feather was cut back on an almost daily basis during the summer. However, since the construction of the pond, this sink has no official purpose and has been empty since the end of summer 1999. I plan to remove the plug seal and turn it into a trough, probably for dwarf alpines. |
