| Garden Layout - Spring Bulbs - Squill
|
|
| This is one of the bulbs that you don't see too often - Puschkinia scilloides, the Striped Squill. This one grows in the drive edging bed of the front garden, which is not the ideal spot for it, as it prefers full sun rather than the dappled shade it gets in that spot. It grows to around 150mm in height and does spread itself, although mine is rather slow at so doing, probably because it doesn't get enough sun. As far as I know, there is only one species, yet I've seen an unstriped very pale, almost white form in a friend's garden, which suggests it may be a sport. |
