Garden Layout - Plants - Ferns

Being such a shaded garden, ferns are invaluable fiiller plants, and are a big favourite of Mrs Taz, who has ordered the planting of several varieties around the pond. Some are kept in pots to allow them to be moved around to where they are needed, but the bigger specimens are firmly bedded into the soil.

Confirmed species to date are....

  • Asplenium scolopendrium - Hart's tongue fern
  • Dicksonia antarctica - Tree Fern
  • Dryopteris affinis - Scaly fern

Other varieties include a Japanese painted fern and an Irish tatting fern. If you know the correct names for these varieties, I'd be obliged if you'd let me know.

I've not had a chance to photograph any of the ferns, yet, but I will be doing as soon as the garden comes back to life.
