| Garden Layout - Plants - Aubrietias
| There are 3 or 4 varieties of Aubrietia dotted around the garden, where their early spring colour is a herald for the impending warmer weather. I use them as filler plants, particularly around the bases of the Chaemycyparis and the roses, where they don't seem to mind the parched, poor soil, and I also use them in winter dangly baskets. | |
| This variety is Aubrieta deltiodea 'Pink Cascade'. It's a pleasing plant, requiring little or no attention, and, in the shadier spot at the base of the climbing rose, it will flower continuously from March until July. It is trimmed after flowering to keep it tidy and to stop it becoming too woody and straggly, but apart from that, it is left to its own devices. | ![]() Aubrietia Pink Cascade |
