| Garden Layout - The Garden Path
| The path in the garden runs from the patio to the water feature, with a branch off to the right servicing the shed. It is 800mm wide on average, and slopes gently uphill to the pond and water cascade. | |
| It was originally concrte block pavers laid in a herringbone pattern, but I changed it to these delightful small cobbles with brick soldier edgings back in the Spring on 1997. The cobbles and bricks are clay paving products, and have been chosen to complement the 'cottagey' look I am trying to create. Mosses are quite fond of the shaded parts of this paving, and grasses, thyme, and aubrietia manage to grow in the sand between each of the 65x65mm cobbles. The path has acheived an aged, been-there-for-years look in a relatively short time, and after all the previous surfaces I've tried for this garden path, I think I'm finally happy with my choice of paving. |
