Garden Layout - The Millennium Bed

The Millennium Bed has been created from an area of sparse grass and plentiful moss that was making a pretty poor attempt at being a lawn. It is part of the ongoing process of reducing the amount of lawn as the kids get older and replacing it with new beds.

Planting plans have not been finalised, but the current idea is to use part of the bed for the burgeoning collection of grasses and sedges, and the rest for yet more flowers and perennials. Planting is scheduled to begin during the Spring of 2000, and, hopefully, by the summer, it should all be complete and the first pictures up here on this page.

Mrs Taz acquired a beautiful Mexican Fox-tail Bamboo, Arundaria chusquea couleou, on the URG field trip to Hill House Nursery in Devon during August 1999, and I'm tempted to use this as the centrepiece for the bed, with the other grasses and sedges planted around it.
