Garden Layout - The Driveway![]() |
|
| The drive was designed by myself and installed by my paving company in 1995. I've used a 60mm thick Brindle pavior blocks laid to a 45° herringbone pattern with Charcoal coloured blocks to form the perimeter soldier edging. For more details on this or any other type of paving, refer to my paving web-site. |

| It is a 'double' drive 3.6m wide, between myself and the neighbour, and extends from the compound and the neighbours' garage, at the top of the above picture, out to the roadway on the front. The drive drains into a surface water gully near the kitchen, and this allows us to wash our cars and vans without flooding the place. Each Spring, the drive is treated with a basic weedkiller, sodium chlorate, and is given the occasional power-wash to maintain its good looks. The drive is also a safe play area for the kids, They have a basketball hoop fitted to the wall so they can drive me mad with the noise of their non-stop " Slam-Dunks" during the summer evenings! | |
